MARSHALL GREENE MIDDLE SCHOOL
MICHIGAN CHAPTER OF THE NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY
Each year, students are selected to be part of the MGMS honor society.
Students are selected at the end of their seventh grade year based up on grade point average, character, and citizenship.
The first criteria is GPA. Students that have a 3.70 average over their previous three academic trimesters will receive an invite.
Secondly, students will then fill out the application that will be given to them with their initial welcome invite. That will move them to the next step which will be faculty consideration.
The faculty will score students on their character and citizenship, on a four point scale.
Finally, if students are ranked above a 3.0 average on those two categories, they will receive a formal invite to become part of the MGMS honor society.
Students that do not have the opportunity to meet the criteria to join in seventh grade will have an opportunity to apply again in eighth grade, as long as their GPA meets the 3.70 average.
Member students are asked to complete 20 hours of community service before the end of May. Those hours are based on helping others that need help and are making a difference to the community. Hours can be counted if they are not receiving any type of compensation, and they are not a close family relative. Students should complete the form found on this page, and turn it into their adviser for approval.
