Birch Run Area Schools

Welcome to the Marshall Greene Middle School Counseling Department!  It is our priority to help students successfully navigate through this unique transition stage.  Middle school students experience a variety of rapid, influential changes: physical growth, curiosity about their world, identity development, academic growth, social awareness, and increasing emotional responsiveness. Counselors have an impact on these students by implementing a school counseling program that is uniquely designed to meet these needs.  This website will provide useful information that will assist you and your child.

Mrs. Rogers

Mrs. Becky Rogers, MA, LPC, brogers@birchrunschools.org

I have served in several roles throughout the educational and mental health professions.  Before becoming a school counselor I taught middle and high school students, most recently at BRHS; I taught English and Psychology for 15 years.  Building relationships and advocating for mental, emotional, and social wellness was my favorite part of teaching. I have also worked part-time as a mental health therapist for a local counseling office for the last 4 years; much of my time there was helping clients cope with stress, anxiety, depression, family difficulties, advocacy obstacles, communication barriers, impulsivity, and low self-esteem.

I have been blessed to be a part of the Panther family since I was in third grade.  In my experience, this community is rich with exceptional students, supportive families, and dedicated faculty members.  As a counselor, it is my goal to continue that tradition to empower, educate, and inspire students by benefiting their mental health and helping them plan for a bright future.  I consider it a privilege to serve our students, our community, and our families in this position.

When not in school, I am spending time with my husband, my daughter, and our lazy lab/hound dog. I enjoy reading, painting, graphic design, serving in my church, Disney World, Mariachi music, travelling, and watching movies with my family.  I am also slowly learning to play the drums; it’s a great release of stress for me.

Ms. Albrecht, Social Worker, balbrecht@birchrunschools.org

I have worked as a Mental Health Specialist in schools for almost 4 years now and I have a great passion for working with adolescents. Middle school is such a crucial time to learn ways of coping with stress, anxiety, negative feelings, rejection, identity, and various life changes. This is what I aim to do; teach students coping and life skills that can be used throughout their lifetimes. I am very passionate about supporting and encouraging students on their journey to adulthood.

Focusing on school may be very difficult for those dealing with various emotional issues. After all, one of my professors once said, "you can't knit a scarf in a hurricane." My goal is to help students calm the hurricane so that they are able to knit the scarf (focus on school).

I am currently in Grad school at MSU for my Master's of Social Work with a certificate of School Social Work. I spent 4+ years of my life living across the globe in Ghana, Dubai, and Muscat, Oman where I worked as an event coordinator. I feel blessed to have made so many diverse social connections and experiences.

My hobbies are hanging out with friends and family, home improvement, playing volleyball, latin dance, and playing music.

Please feel free to call me with any questions or concerns you may have regarding your child.
